Dr. Sunyoung Kim is the CEO of Genopis, Inc. and the founder/CEO of the parent company of Genopis, Helixmith (formerly ViroMed).
Dr. Kim obtained two master’s degrees: MS in Biochemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MA in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Harvard University. He earned his DPhil in the area of Molecular Genetics at University of Oxford. Dr. Kim has served as an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School and also served as a professor at Seoul National University in Korea.
In a joint venture partnership structure, Dr. Kim has established Genopis as a new U.S. entity that will initially focus on manufacturing plasmid DNA gene therapy medicines. He intends to have Genopis grow as the world’s first class CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) for plasmid DNA medicines.
